Macs have a small but solid choice of IPTV players. Apple silicon Macs can also run some iPad apps from the Mac App Store, which widens it further.
Apps
- IPTVX and UHF: native apps with a TV guide, available on the Mac App Store; they also sync with iPhone and Apple TV.
- VLC: free, opens an M3U link instantly, no guide.
- IPTV Smarters for macOS: available from the Smarters website.
- GSE Smart IPTV: on Apple silicon Macs via the App Store's iPad apps section, where offered.
Setup in IPTVX or UHF
- Install from the Mac App Store.
- Add a playlist and pick Xtream Codes.
- Paste server, username and password from your Viking IPTV welcome email.
- The guide loads with the channels.
Quick test in VLC
File, Open Network, paste the M3U link, Open. Use the playlist sidebar to switch channels.
From Mac to TV
Click the AirPlay icon in the menu bar or the player's control bar to send video to an Apple TV or AirPlay TV. For a better result, install the app on the Apple TV directly.
macOS may warn about apps downloaded outside the App Store. Only allow them when they come from the developer's official site.
