IPTV "max connections reached"

Too many screens at once, and how to stay within your plan.

Viking IPTV Editorial Team · 3 min read

A connection is one device playing at a time. Installing your login on five devices is fine; playing on two at once with a 1 device plan is not.

Why it happens

  • Someone else in the house is watching.
  • An app on a phone is still streaming in the background.
  • A device did not close the stream properly (it times out after a minute or two).
  • Multiview counts each tile as a connection.

Fixes

  1. Stop playback on other devices and fully close the apps.
  2. Wait two minutes for stale sessions to end.
  3. Avoid multiview on a single-connection plan.
  4. If two people regularly watch at once, a 2 or 3 device plan is cheaper than separate subscriptions. See multi-device plans.
