Kodi is a free media centre for Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi. It is not an IPTV app by itself, but Kodi's official PVR IPTV Simple Client add-on turns it into one, with a proper TV guide.
Setup
- Open Kodi, go to Add-ons, Install from repository, PVR clients.
- Choose PVR IPTV Simple Client, install, then open Configure.
- Under General, set location to Remote path and paste your M3U link.
- Under EPG, paste the EPG link from your Viking IPTV email.
- Save, then restart Kodi. A TV entry appears on the home menu.
Settings worth changing
| Setting | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Refresh channels at startup | On |
| EPG time shift | 0, unless the guide is offset |
| Channel logos from EPG | On |
| PVR & Live TV, Guide, days to display | 3 |
Things to know
- Kodi's official repository is safe. Third-party add-ons that promise free channels are not; avoid them.
- Kodi is heavier than a dedicated player. On a basic Firestick, TiviMate or Smarters will feel faster.
- On a home theatre PC with a remote, Kodi's guide is excellent.
Official sources: the add-on is maintained by the Kodi team and documented on kodi.tv.
