IPTV audio out of sync

Lip sync problems, solved from the player outwards.

Viking IPTV Editorial Team · 3 min read

When voices do not match lips, the delay is added somewhere: the stream, the player, the TV's picture processing or the soundbar.

Fixes

  1. Change channel and back: a small drift after long viewing often resets.
  2. Player audio delay: most players have an audio offset (TiviMate, VLC, Smarters). Adjust in 50 ms steps.
  3. TV game or PC mode: heavy picture processing delays video; a lighter mode reduces it.
  4. Soundbar/receiver lip sync setting: many have an "AV sync" or "Auto lip sync" option.
  5. Passthrough off: decoding audio in the streaming device can align it better on some setups.

One channel only

If only one channel is out of sync on every device, it is the source. Report it with the channel name.

Questions and answers

Why is IPTV sound ahead of the picture?

Picture processing in the TV delays video. Use a lighter picture mode or the player's audio delay.

Where is the audio delay in VLC?

Tools, Track Synchronization.

Can a soundbar cause lip sync problems?
