IPTV app keeps crashing

Players crash for a handful of reasons, almost all on the device.

Viking IPTV Editorial Team · 3 min read

When an IPTV app closes by itself, the cause is nearly always on the device: low storage, low memory, an outdated app or a corrupt cache.

Fixes

  1. Free storage: aim for at least 1 GB free on a Firestick. Uninstall unused apps.
  2. Clear cache (Settings, Applications, Manage installed applications, your player, Clear cache).
  3. Update the app and the device.
  4. Reduce guide days to two or three; huge guides crash small devices.
  5. Hide channel groups you do not use, so the app loads a smaller list.
  6. Clear data and log in again if it still crashes (you lose favourites, so note them first).
  7. Reinstall from the official source. Modified versions crash more and may contain malware.

Crashes only on one channel

That channel's stream uses a format the player engine dislikes. Switch engine or watch that channel in another app.

Smart TV apps

Turn the TV fully off at the wall for a minute; TVs rarely restart properly from standby.
