The maths, and the catch
Twelve monthly payments cost about $179 against $59.95 for a 12 month plan, so the long plan saves roughly two thirds. The catch is that you pay it all up front. In our checks, 4 of 96 provider sites had disappeared or changed hands; a long plan bought from one of those would have been lost.
A simple rule
- First purchase from any store: 1 month.
- If the month went well, including a big live event: 12 months.
- If you have used the store for a year without problems: consider 24 months.
Screens change the maths
67 stores sell 2 and 3 device versions. A 2 device plan usually costs much less than two separate subscriptions, so households watching in two rooms should compare those first.
Renewing well
- Renew from your own bookmark, not from a search result.
- Ask support to add time to your existing login so favourites stay.
- Renewal is a good moment to move to a longer plan, once the store has proven itself.
