> Does IPTV work on Starlink? Speed, latency, obstructions, the Starlink router, and settings that keep live channels smooth on satellite internet.

Starlink's speeds are usually more than enough for IPTV. The occasional issue is short drop-outs caused by obstructions or satellite handovers.

## What works well

- Typical Starlink speeds easily handle Full HD and often [4K](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/4k-iptv-explained/).
- Latency is low enough for live TV.

## What to watch for

Issue | Fix |
Short drop-outs | Check the obstruction map in the Starlink app; move the dish |
[Buffering](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/iptv-buffering-fixes/) during handovers | Increase the player's buffer size slightly |
Weak [Wi-Fi](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/iptv-wifi-tips/) from the Starlink router | Add the Ethernet adapter or a mesh system |
CGNAT | Not a problem for IPTV apps |

## Tips

- Use Ethernet from the Starlink adapter to the TV box where possible.
- Pick Full HD over 4K if drop-outs are frequent.
- On RVs and boats, mount the dish with a clear view of the sky.
