> Set up IPTV for an older parent or grandparent: one device, one remote, big favourites list, auto-start and remote help.

The best IPTV setup for an older viewer is one that looks like the TV they already know.

## The setup

- **One device**: a streaming stick or [MAG box](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/iptv-on-mag-box/), controlled by one remote with HDMI-CEC on.
- **Auto-start**: the player opens straight into live TV ([TiviMate](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/tivimate-iptv-setup/): Start on boot).
- **Short favourites list**: 10 to 20 channels, numbered like their old TV.
- **Hide everything else**.
- **Large text**: increase the player's font or the device's display size.

## Write it down

A card next to the TV: how to switch on, how to change channel, who to call. Keep a copy of the login details somewhere safe.

## Helping from a distance

Keep the same player on your own device so you can talk them through it. Renew the plan for them, and set a reminder before it ends.
