# IBO Player setup guide

IBO Player is popular because it runs on Samsung and LG TVs as well as Android devices. It works differently from Smarters or [TiviMate](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/tivimate-iptv-setup/): you do not type your login into the TV. Instead, you add your playlist on the IBO Player website, and the TV picks it up.

## How it works

Every TV running IBO Player gets a **MAC address** and **device key**, shown when you open the app. On the website you enter those two codes and attach your playlist. The app then downloads it.

## Step by step

- Install IBO Player from your TV's app store and open it.
- Write down the MAC and device key.
- On a phone or computer, open the official IBO Player website and its "manage playlist" page.
- Enter the MAC and device key, then add a playlist: either Xtream (server, username, password) or the [M3U link](https://blog.vikingiptvofficial.com/m3u-playlist-explained/) from Viking IPTV.
- Save. On the TV, restart the app or use the refresh option.

## The activation fee

IBO Player starts with a trial period (usually a week). After that, the app maker charges a one-time activation for that TV. This is separate from your IPTV subscription and paid on IBO's website.

## IBO Player vs IBO Player Pro

They are separate apps by different developers with similar names. Both use MAC-based activation; menus differ. Check which one you installed before you pay.
